Well, it’s once again time to don the fatigues, pull on the combat boots, and put on your helmet. The guests you had for the holidays don’t seem to get the message that it’s time to leave. You know the guests such as tom turkey, pecan pie, and the ever sweet potato. Starting in November, we welcome these guests and enjoy their company, but on January 1st we always come to the realization that it’s time for our guest to leave.
Your enemies are the mirror, the bathroom scales, and snickers from friends as they gaze at your bursting britches. Your friends are fruits, vegetables, water, and exercise. Too bad our guests aren’t as much fun as our friends. But take heart and promise yourself that you can have an occasional treat once you are back on track. Pretend you are enjoying the Weight Watcher dinners and your time on the treadmill. There are many foods you can enjoy on your journey back to your normal weight. If it tastes like cardboard, you are on the right track.
Hang in there and watch your weight come back down to normal slowly. And by all means, make sure the light in your freezer is functioning properly. After all, you don’t want to have any problems sneaking that bowl of ice cream when it’s over. Spring and summer have their own rewards, such as not looking to bad in your bathing suit. But then fall will be upon us once again and our guests return, so be on guard!
